I don’t work in the industry but I’m genuinely interested to know if the amount of failures and issues with the class 810s are common with new stock especially Hitachi? I thought Hitachi were the elite of the industry having built JR Shinkansen etc. I remember the problems with the Scotrail...
How far are the wires going? Noticed today that there doesn’t seem to be any sign of work north of the A90 bridge that crosses the line south of Dalmeny
What’s the expected finish date for electrification up to Dalmeny? Was wondering if things will ramp up now that the East Kilbride project is nearing completion?
Ah okay, thank you for clarifying

Noticed a couple of new bits and pieces on the overhead equipment since late November. I was surprised to see wire going up before all the overhead structures are in place
Not a great photo but I did notice what looks to be return/feeder wires on the overhead line equipment at Saughton today. Image is from a London bound Azuma
There’s clearly work going on in the background for this project as overhead work has been done up to Saughton junction bar overhead wires. Chuff chuff has reported steel pilings delivered too. I do find it strange that the project is on hold but work is happening on the ground
It’s not about spending more as such, the £200m was announced and never delivered. It is sensible to focus investment on the Central belt but it shouldn’t all be focused on that area. Aberdeen and Dundee are important cities with sizeable populations
I take your point but £200m promised and all that’s happened is a track realignment near Perth, a couple of disused overbridges demolished and two rebuilt in 8 years! Network rail have been clearing disused bridges across the U.K. for some time now and renewals is usually down to poor condition...
