Finally did the Burnley > Todmorden > Manchester route yesterday. Granted it was a Monday afternoon at 3pm.... So the train was pretty quiet.... and 15 minutes late.
......BUT I have to say the service itself was superb. Right into Victoria in under an hour for £9 return.....Fantastic :)
I...
Great to hear the service will finally up and running come May, good things come to those who wait :)
Talking of Rose Grove, I passed through it yesterday morning on my way from Bamber Bridge to Nelson (on a pacer , "shudders" :( ) and noticed some work going on at the station. Looked like new...
If that's the case, it really is an absolute disgrace.
Surely as Liverpool > Manchester becomes electrified the DMU's will immediately become available?!?! Or have I missed something ! :S
The whole thing is an absolute shambles thats for sure.
I visited friends in Burnley over the weekend and thought I would have a trip to Manchester Road station to see how it was looking.
To my complete amazement, it looks 100% finished and yet STILL closed?!?!
Warwick Parkway is a good example of a perfect station for me.
Always clean and tidy, staffed for 99% of the time, ample parking, nice shop and with a cracking service to both Birmingham and London.
One of my local stations :)
As you said there have been more or less zero developments for a number of years, until the announcement of the Manchester Victoria direct service via the Todmorden curve, which is due to start in December. Which as others have said will have a huge impact on the...
I will also add London Marylebone to the list.
A really well run station, never THAT overcrowded for London standards and provides a cracking service to Birmingham.
Will be even better with the new Oxford link.
I live 500 yards from Warwick Parkway, and I have to say its superb.
Lots of parking, for those that need it, Birmingham New Street in under half an hour, London Marylebone in 90 mins. All thats missing is connection to Rugby (currently changing at Leamington AND Coventry is a pain) and it...
London Euston for me too.... really is like something from the 1980's, nowhere near big enough and needs a full rebuild.... With HS2 im assuming?
Manchester Victoria..... Absolutely dreadful in every way..... Again will be alot better after the refurb.
I also find Coventry massively...
Well currently an off peak return from Todmorden > Manc Victoria is £8.20 , or £11.00 anytime.
Surely it cant be much more than that ??? Maybe £12 or £18 ??
Well worth it for me personally with the estimated journey time of under an hour..... eventually.
I travelled over the line on Saturday from Burnley > York and what was surprising was a nice 3 carriage service, is this the norm?? Must be a year since I travelled the route.
As others have said, the curve at Todmorden looked almost finished, great to see.
Has anyone any idea of an estimated...
