    Freightliner 70s

Yeah, absolutely correct ofcourse but I used the term Dynamic braking because that's what GE market it as and every locomotive so fitted in America aswel, but it is the same thing. As an aside, I've been modelling American railroad practise for 10 years now and Ive never once heard it referred...

    Freightliner 70s

Its dynamic braking. Being abit of a north American railroad nut, its fairly familiar to me as more or less every kind of modern traction in America is fitted with dynamic brakes. The size of their freights make then a necessity rather than an option. The traction motors are turned into...

Agree with that fella, proper freight trains with proper locomotives driven by 'engineers' with chrome balls!! It always amazes me to think that those mid-train helpers, or rear end helpers for that matter, were manned!! **** that for a game of soldiers, you'd need a respirator!!!

ALL the known Loco and Multiple unit nicknames

The Toffee Apples were the small sub class of 31/0's that were built as pilot scheme loco's for the rest of the standard class. They were equipped with a power handle that looked like a toffee apple apparently! Also the unique electro magnetic coupling code was a red circle, maybe that was the...

    Trainee Driver vacancies DBS

I agree. If a person of lets say in their 30's and 40's goes for the job and of whom could have some very serious and useful life skills, I don't think what they did in a doss house (school) 30 odd years ago is an accurate rendition of their character or what they are capable of now!

    Trainee Driver vacancies DBS

I done them 15 years ago with Virgin and they were £400 back then. Wouldn't be surprised if they were nearly double that now!

    Trainee Driver vacancies DBS

I very much doubt you will have to sit them again. IIRC your passes are valid for 4 years no matter who the TOC / FOC maybe! Sit back and enjoy the ride!:D

HAHA! Oh boy oh boy! I was trying to make light of it son! As I said, I meant no malice, where was the derogatory remark in my post?? It sounds like you've had a very successful sense of humour by pass! You need to work on your attitude son. You'l certainly not get very far in the rail...

You newbies have gota realise that the railway is a totally different ball game to anything you've ever done before. Its like an institution. I mean absolutely no malice in that comment either! Here, we do things differently. Its the right way, the wrong way and the railway!
