EMT employ both competent driver managers ("driver manager") and non competent driver managers ("non technical skills driver managers") Competent ones obviously keep up their driving competence. NTS ones have never driven a train. The current vacancies are for competent driver managers.

If you've got the relevant experience and a good CV then your GCSE results (or lack of) won't even be looked at.

I pray to god that I never board a train with Jiggy in the front cab. I will be happy with a much less juicy driver. And one with an ounce of intelligence.

Did you get feedback on the written part of the structured interview? I assume you had to write your scenarios before your interview, if you wrote those as you're writing on here then that will have contributed to your fail.

Train manager is out of the question, as is senior conductor I am afraid. You may have to look at different path. Colour blindness means you will be unable to perform any safety crit role. Probably not what you wanted to hear but unfortunately that's the situation.

This test is run by FTPE and it definitely does not count as one of your lives. However, as stated by many others on these boards, it may be an irrelevance when they change the tests. Hi Jamie First's fault finding test isn't part of the official driver assessments. It's their own test to get numbers down. Once you pass this (which if you've passed all the driver assessment elements should be straight forward) then you wouldn't have to attend their next two assessment...

I wish that was correct. Unfortunately Northern have changed their policy and won't allow you to just sit one part of the test, so if you have anything missing (mine is the mech test) you have to do the full set of tests again. So it's still a six month wait since they were last taken.

In my situation i would agree with Lanc and Pete on this one. If you do the tests privately at DBS then you would do the full complement of tests. This eliminates the risk of you taking the tests with one TOC and then applying to another TOC who require an additional test as happened to me. This...
