TfW class 398 Stadler Citylink tram trains

Indeed. Plus we live in a humid country. The air con in my car kicks in nine months of the year. It absolutely is essential for any form of vehicle nowadays.

GWR accused of disrupting Wales-England train links by Welsh Government

As a Lydney commuter, it's news to me if tickets to Bristol are now valid via Gloucester. And the connections via Severn Tunnel Junctions are unreliable at best, unusable at worst.

CAF class 197 Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

I don't buy that either. It was at least 10° cooler on 197025 than it was outside. The difference in air temperature when the doors opened at stations was huge. The Turbostars used by CrossCountry around here also have brilliant air conditioning, although the heating can get a bit warm in the...

CAF class 197 Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

How are the 197s holding up in the heat this year? Have to say that 197025 was lovely in 32° this evening. Very busy onboard but comfortably cool, not cold, and plenty of airflow without being draughty. Hopefully they've got on top of all the previous air con issues now!

Trivia: passenger services that terminate then start another service continuing in the same direction

Again not the UK, but the 1638 from Tende to Breil-sur-Roya does this. It terminates, waits around twenty minutes (during which another train, presumably arriving from Nice, gets attached to the front), and then continues as the 1749 to Nice. Highly recommended as a day trip from Nice if anyone...

GWR changing app/website provider on 24th February

The new app really is garbage isn't it? Extremely slow to do anything, so slow that you think transactions won't go through (which invariably is the case). Google Pay option has disappeared. You'll be damned if I am saving my card details in this new bodge of an app. Signs you out daily, if...

Is Transport for Wales nationalist? Could its operations be redistributed?

Living in Lydney, my personal bugbears with TfW are the following: The Cheltenham service seems to be top of the list for cancellations whenever there is a even a semblance of operational issues. The Cheltenham service has gone from 3 car 170s when I moved here to predominantly 2 car 150s, 153s...

    XC Voyager Refurbishment

Does anyone know if the HVAC system on the Voyagers has been modified or had its settings changed of late? I used to find Voyagers quite stuffy, and they gave me mild motion sickness. However on my last two journeys over the last month, both have had loads of fresh air coming in from above...

GWR changing app/website provider on 24th February

If wonder if the new app will have the capability to not sign you out at random, usually when you are trying to buy a ticket whilst dashing to the platform at silly o'clock in the morning. That would be nice.

CAF class 197 Civity for TfW: News and updates on introduction.

Us long suffering passengers enduring cancellations due to a shortage of rolling stock, 150s and 153s instead of 197s, which in turn are running instead of 231s, would beg to differ with TfW about the urgency of getting all the 197s in service..

TfW class 398 Stadler Citylink tram trains

I believe GWR's Turbos are driver open. They are noticeably quicker to release the doors at stations like Severn Tunnel Junction than TfW or CrossCountry. Far quicker than GWR's 158s too.

    Class 175s to GWR

That's a good day for Cardiff-Portsmouth. The other day there were three in a row of two-cars!

    4G severn tunnel?

On my work phone, which is on Vodafone, I get full signal through the Severn Tunnel, but no data. On my personal phone, which is on ID Mobile, so Three's network, I get nothing at all. I assumed the signal was there for making emergency calls however data would be quite handy for tracking tight...

    Class 195 issues

Yes, like a constant rattling underneath as if something is loose, faster than the frequency of any bumps or bounces. I only ever ride 197s and I've experienced it numerous times. Yup, a 197, sometimes they really seem to struggle with wheelslip around here (Lydney to Severn Tunnel Junction).

    Class 195 issues

197s sometimes have the knocking from underneath, I've mainly noticed it when sat by the cab ends. Was the gearbox changing up and down because of wheel slip? I experienced this the other morning
