    Assessments & Medicals discussion

Sorry I know this has probably been asked and answered many times but is long distance driving a reasonable answer to the MMI question regarding describing a task similar to a train driver. I regularly did this when working away from home

I don't suppose anyone has heard anything regarding the recent posts that were advertised around Manchester?

    A career as a signaller

Just interested to find out what people's thoughts are about this current advert below, seems quite a large area? For example I live near Wigan yet Hellifield is in Skipton? I assume you would be placed at a box reasonably close to your home address. Interestingly I don't know many grade 2...

Does anyone know much about the crossing keeper role at Sandhills IECC Liverpool? Realistically how much would enhancements add to the salary? Thanks for any information.

    New Signaller Assessment News

Very interesting - will it affect those who have already passed the assessment centre (i.e. will you know need to pass the online assessments?)

Hi, could someone give me an idea about how a relief signaller works e.g. rota, holidays etc

    A career as a signaller

Hi all Sorry I know this has been asked many times before and is difficult to answer but if you were employed at grade 3 (approx 30k) with all your enhancements for Sundays, nights etc what would be your annual pay then? Also would say 2 overtime shifts per month often be available and...

    Signaller recruitment process

Hi, in the same boat here. Can I ask what SHL is? --- old post above --- --- new post below --- Sorry just looked it up. So the SHL is the initial SJT? Interesting that this score is used instead of the assessment day?

Just wondered to those who are working as signallers (as far as is possible with any job!) do you enjoy it and do you look forward to going into work? What do you think are the good and bad points of the job? Any particular day to day stresses or regular stressful situations?

Thanks for the reply. The advert doesn't mention about relief position in fact it seems to mention multiple opportunities. Just strangely worded as 1 hour from Halifax takes in many other towns and cities so why not just advertise them as such?

    A career as a signaller

There is an advert for signallers in "Halifax and 1 hours travel time surrounding" at the moment. Just wondered what this exactly means e.g I live 55miles from Halifax and about 1 hour 10 mins in the car on a good day so I'm thinking if there's anything my side of Halifax then surely it is...

I see there a few jobs advertised on the NR website today. Out of interest some are fixed term until Jan '17 - just wondered how this worked as surely once you've been through application stages and then 9 weeks training it will almost take you to Jan 2017?! Also what's meant with fixed...
