    SNCF Thionville - Charleville Mezieres

Hi In the current Sunday timetable, there is a TER83823 16:19 Thionville - Charleville Mezieres, and TER83824 18:09 return. Curiously (on the DB Navigator app), these trains are also shown as running today, Tuesday 14th July and Saturday 15th August. There is no reference to the two additional...

Trivia: Physically connected neighbouring train stations with no regular direct train service.

If we're allowing light rail, on the Tyne and Wear Metro we have Regent Centre to Longbenton. I did include West Jesmond to Manors, but obviously they're served by direct services in an indirect manner!

Metrocar updates and withdrawals - Tyne & Wear Metro

The most recent Branch Line News, issued yesterday, alludes to a special diagram for the final week of planned Metrocar operation: South Gosforth 09.33 - South Hylton 10.58 - South Gosforth 11.49 - Airport 12.31 - South Gosforth 13.42 - St James 14.43 - Whitley Bay - Pelaw - South Shields 16.19...

    Virgin Trains via Linlithgow

I believe this was planned engineering works. On 20th April 2013, I travelled on 1M60, 15:57 Edinburgh Waverley - Carlisle, routed via Linlithgow, Falkirk Grahamston, Cumbernauld and Motherwell. Hope this helps!

European Train Stations you have felt most uneasy visiting

Has anyone ever changed trains at Marchienne-au-Pont, near Charleroi? I've only ever passed through but been thankful that was the case!

    Eleanor LNER Doll

I was asked about what I thought of Eleanor in an LNER interview a year or two ago. I gave an honest critique - Didn't get the job.

    Standard XC Diversions

Initial announcement on board 1V60 was that the train would run non stop from York to Sheffield. The Doncaster call was subsequently advised, with acknowledgement that there were passengers for there on 1V60 who should have been on 1V89 (leaving Newcastle a few minutes prior). That was...

    LNER 225 Shortening/Overnight Testing

Presumably a shunt to Heaton Depot and back is unfeasible due to Newcastle crew depot not signing the traction, plus the layover time in Newcastle being intended for the drivers PNB?

Newcastle to Ashington via Morpeth - 13th August

Not the first time this has happened. On 24th June, due to a dewirement on the adjacent Metro line at Northumberland Park, a limited Northern service ran via Hepscott Junction / Choppington. Some services reversed at Bedlington, whilst others ran Newcastle - (non stop via Morpeth and...

TRIVIA: Junctions where the branch is straight-on, and the main is around the corner

Tyne and Wear Metro beyond Pelaw, where the lines for South Shields and Sunderland diverge. Main Line to South Shields curves to the left, position 4 junction indicator for the chord onto Network Rail and Sunderland is straight on - Actually slightly to the left of 12 o'clock.

    Power changeover at Darlington

I don't know if LNER still sign Dinsdale, however in HST days I was on a service which was diverted from Darlington to Stockton (reverse) then forward via Yarm and Boroughbridge Road.

Virginia Water has 4 platforms over 2 routes.
