For as long as I've worked on the railways there has been occasional mix up with units. I don't think it is particularly more common with TfW. I also feel that doesn't matter how hard TfW try there will be the occasional error. It is quite rare. If you spot an error like this it can be helpful...
Apologies I gave All Platforms the wrong infomation. I correctly remembered the short-lived London Crosslink used Old Kew Junction towards South Acton. However I went off memory thinking it ran at the start of privatisation and not 2000 - 2002. I should have tried to look up the exact dates...
The fastest time from Brentford to London Waterloo is 29 minutes by a South Western train. The time from Brentford to London Euston by the Great Western sleeper is only 25 minutes.

Many thanks for all the infomation. I was successful on Sunday covering the Metropolitan line direct from Watford to Rickmansworth. The service ran as per the timetable.
