Sign language on train route information displays (and station departure boards)

The needs of anyone who finds (relevant) audio announcements annoying should always take second place to those who cannot see and need them. Something that one can mitigate for oneself is always less of a priority than for those with no other option.

All cross country services suspended 23/08/26

So what conclusions should we draw from this in terms of GC vs Cross Country's ability to operate?

All cross country services suspended 23/08/26

It should be possible-and a reasonable expectation-for the back-up plan to include alternative ways for staff to access the key systems.

All cross country services suspended 23/08/26

All of which could presumably be done by back-up alternative phone numbers which crews are asked to use in circumstances such as today.

All cross country services suspended 23/08/26

It seems broader than that. Cross Country is saying: That does not imply any relevant operators for a given route being excluded. https://www.crosscountrytrains.co.uk/travel-information/disruption/latest-travel-information?

Trainline to be investigated for not including fees in prices

If they were that significant then presumably we wouldn't have seen so many competitors enter the market?

Trainline to be investigated for not including fees in prices

Presumably though, the fulfilment costs are no greater than for retailers who don't charge a fee?

ECML animals incident near Grantham 20-21/8

That's whst I was thinking. A train I was on hit a dear in the same area but, aside from travelling slowly to the next station and then a visual check, it carried on as normal.

Are Inter-Available Season Ticket Stations Still a Thing?

Is there a historical/organisational explanation as to why a high proportion (although not solely) of these are stations in the South East?

Audio/visual "next stop" announcements on buses

At the risk of opening up a can of worms, smartphones will give that information for most people.

Audio/visual "next stop" announcements on buses

Given that one will be able to see that the bus has entered the next town/locality and that there will presumably be other passengers getting ready to disembark/board, I would have this was clear in most cases.

Audio/visual "next stop" announcements on buses

But those who can't hear can see where they are in the same way as any other sighted passenger.

Audio/visual "next stop" announcements on buses

I don't think it would be difficult for drivers to call out each stop as they arrive. RRB stops are far less frequent than with service buses.

Getting passengers to spread out along the platform

I suspect I am not only one who would find it rather irritating if staff tried to tell passengers where to stand along the platform. There are already far too many announcements that fail to treat people as adults capable of making their own decisions,

    West Yorkshire bus franchising

Almost two weeks later, and stop with a shelter which had both paper timetables and an electronic display now still has a new one with an empty timetable frame and no electronic display. Why is everything WYCA touches rather third rate?
