It used to be that you would simply buy the London to Calais train ticket for little over 30 quid and there you were. Understanding staff at St. Pancras would even sell you the high-speed supplement saving one the bother of taking the slow train to Dover. What a shame that ticket has been withdrawn.
I had some very angry LNER ticket staff in the KGX office tell me they couldn't sell tickets to Calais the last time (possibly for good) I used the P&O offer. Presumably they thought I meant a Eurostar ticket. Southeastern were gently persuaded to sell me one along with a HS supplement.
