And you wouldn't ever charge a Tesla at a non Tesla DC charger unless you're really desperate. £0.79/kWh is not the right price for comparison, they range from £0.20-£0.45 depending upon location and time of day.
When I preheat and defrost my Tesla in the middle of winter it will pull 7kW when plugged in, but that drops to about 1.5-2kW after not very long. When driving waste heat from the motors etc is scavenged and used for cabin and battery heating, with the heat pump doing the rest.
They are selectively using the most expensive public charging they can find. Even away from home a lot I never pay the 90p/kWh these guys base it on.

I'm not sure it's as simple as that. Certainly in the early days Tesla supercharging was subsidised as a way to sell cars - eg free supercharging for life. My understanding is that discharging is cheaper now because Tesla builds their own charging requirement, so it's all vertically integrated...

The longitudinal expansion and strain will be the same as a thinner section rail for a given temperature difference. The thicker section means the rail can withstand higher forces.
