Front and rear overhangs never really change. The length changes usually are between the axles (hence the need to sometimes add one). Extending the overhangs makes the bus less manoeuvrable.

Traction voltage does indeed change the power output of rolling stock. For example the Siemens Vectron X locomotive is able to churn out 6400 kW on 25 kV AC, but only 3500 kW on 1.5 kV DC.

I don't see it. The 2009 Stock has the body shape of the 1992 Stock, and the 2024 has that of the 1995/1996 Stocks.

Design-wise they're based on the C20 train, which is an ADtranz design.
