You usually hear the inverters/power electronics and the transmission more than the actual motors, but they’re completely different anyway and don’t sound even similar to me.

I think it depends on the rest of the fleet. 5 trains of a specific type when the other types are in 50 or 100-odd quantities is a micro-fleet. But 5 trains of a specific type when the other types are in 10 or 15-odd numbers isn't.

Building them is the only thing Alstom is doing. All the rest was done by Bombardier and the suppliers chosen by Bombardier at the time. Some people here seem to think a Vauxhall Astra is a different car to the Opel Astra :lol:

Well yes because Alstom took everything over. Doesn’t make a Bombardier or ABB component an Alstom design all of a sudden. Same with the employees which didn’t really magically become Alstom employees all of a sudden. Yeah sure the pay check started saying Alstom instead of BBD, but you just...

Which doesn’t make it an Alstom design. Nothing is from Alstom on an Aventra, be it by design or manufacturing.

Thankfully Bombardier is long gone now.

What about the ScotRail livery ? It’s usually well-liked, and the flag aspect of it is much more obvious than on the GBR livery…

My question wasn’t genuine – I was merely pointing out that it wasn’t fair to talk about suggested reliability of Alstom trains when the UK hadn’t received any for a long time (with a lot of Alstom reliability issues actually being mostly UK-centered).

Have they been problematic ? The Citadis trams usually aren’t…
