Well, we're back from our Eurostar trip. Thanks SO much to all who have responded above. To summarize: We went back to the station clutching our printout of the confirmation booking. The ticket issuer sold us 2 returns to "London International (CIV)", valid until a date in December so...

copied from my first post on this thread. I do not understand "London International". Our Eurostar booking was (is) for St Pancras International, so it seemed reasonable for me to ask for a return ticket between my local station and St Pancras International.

What is the penalty for travelling with tickets to StP Int'l and a confirmation letter? Maximum fine? (Do they take credit cards or do we need to pay fines by cash?) And will we automatically get a criminal record?

This is appalling! If the SWT ticket issuer does issue tickets to StP Int'l on the basis of seeing a printout of the confirmation email, are we travelling illegally? Would we risk a fine, a crimimal record?? Should we cancel the Eurostar trip? BTW, there was no option to print the tickets...

Oh! :o Would a printout of the email confirmation (saying "tickets to be collected at station" be acceptable, I wonder?

He didn't say anything about cost of the tickets! If we try to use a ticket machine, what do I enter? "Off-peak return (travelling after 0930, not returning on same day) to St Pancras International with Senior Railcard"? or what? Is the machine programmed to ask whether or not I have a...

Cannot my question be answered unless I mention the name of our home station? For home security reasons I don't want to do so until we return! - I hope you think this is reasonable, if cautious. We will try again to buy the tickets.

A station on SWT. Sorry, my mention of "direct" was misleading, I know we will need to change at Wimbledon, then we go direct to StP Int'l... so what did the man at the ticket office mean about Kings Cross?

Thanks all :) Seems to me that I can't get from my local station direct to StP Int'l, or maybe not at all!! Could someone explain the exact type of ticket I need? (with Senior Railcard, return journey a few days later)?

What's CIV?

He did offer Kings Cross (not St Pancras). I thought St P and St P Int'l were one and the same. I did not find his reply helpful. Was he following a standard procedure? I have not tried the ticket machines, presumably I would have the same problem.
