Disruption at St Pancras (Possible Bomb Threat) 18/08/26

Looks like Pancras Road, near the junction with Goods Way.

    London Buses Discussion

There was a city wide strike in early 2015 if I recall.

Stations rebranded to Great British Railways design / Rail Alphabet 2 & 3

Here is Berrylands. On closer inspection it appears the “Fare Zone 5” font is the same as the incumbent SWT/SWR signage. Another variation

SWR Class 458/4s: fleet status and withdrawal updates

I worked this today — unsurprisingly it became standing room only from Ascot…

Stations rebranded to Great British Railways design / Rail Alphabet 2 & 3

Berrylands platform 1 has new signage as part of its platform rebuild. I couldn’t get a picture in time but to summarise : Station name is black (possibly RA3) a white background of course. Unlike at Gipsy Hill though, The fare zone “square” is retained as black text on orange. (on the country...

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway: progress updates

(My 2C33 working got delayed by this at Clapham, though we later overtook it at Barnes.) This is probably a stupid question, but could the 701/5 units not be doubled up on delivery/stock moves given their length?

    Level Crossing Pedestrian Signal

Grays has them too as it’s a “pedestrianised” level crossing

SWR outgoing Metro fleet withdrawals (complete)

458501-528 were converted to 4-car (now 458401-428), running on the Windsor / Reading / Chertsey lines until replacement by 701. 529-536 remain as 5-car (but are to be withdrawn as each unit runs out of miles).

Announcement: "Farnborough only". Man (guard?) shouting "STOP ORDER!!!". What went on?

A “Stop order” usually means control have added additional station calls outside of the scheduled calling pattern. Sounds like changes weren’t updated on the CIS quick enough (and as a general rule, we’re advised to avoid using railway jargon in the manner described above).

    Annoying television adverts...

To add to this, the “member savings” bellboy ad has the phrase “ save up to 20%, less than 50% but more than 0%” . I mean..

    Even more announcements on SWR

Correct. ( I usually deploy the “Oyster & contactless not valid on this service” once leaving Surbiton.)

SWR Class 458 to be retained

Yes - First Class has remained (albeit declassified while running on Windsor line services)

Project Oval: TfL win DfT contract to expand contactless system to 233 rail stations by May 2024, Railcards coming to contactless payment cards

In my experience, as soon as the Cubic card readers were installed at our stations on the Windsor/Shepperton branches, people were trying to use them almost immediately.
