well thanks to all those who have commented, but ive decided on the action to proceed with as i will call and speak to the prosecutions unit when i find out what the member of staff will put in a statement.
and if you read the previous comments you will see that i incorrectly assumed i could...
I'm going to send a groveling letter explaining the situation , expressing how i will ensure i always purchase tickets before boarding and include the statement from the member of staff i will offer the fare price and £20 admin fee for their troubles and see what happens
no my mum works at...
sorry if i sounded shirty clip, its my fault for including too much information that led the discussion to become distracted from the actual issue of the truro-redruth journey.
my opinion of the rpi is from my experience and i understand it may be skewed as i was the one being fined - i will...
oh I will be much more professional in an official letter, ive only used this platform as an attempt to scope out options becuase i was having difficulty understanding my situation in comparison to generic terms! You have been very helpful, thank you
i only mention penalty fares as that fine is 20 compared to mine which is 100,so if id been traveling north of truro the same fare would have 80 cheaper fine
is it best to ask them for a copy of their revenuespolicy and a copy of rpi report. im unsure whether 100 is a standardised fine or...
i know i didnt have a valid ticket - how many times do i have to say that? im not disputing the fine just the amount they want!
i never left the platform, she thinks i intentionally bypassed the ticket gate to avoid paying which i assume would affect the seriousness of the offence and therefore...
so what im asking is;
can ask for a copy of the rpi report?
can i ask for the settlement offer to be recalculated - based on incorrect evidence, first time offence, price of actual fare and comparison to penalty charge fee?
the have not asked for a response from me, only payment, if i do not...
i admitted it at the time and said i thought i could buy the ticket on the train. i DID NOT enter through the cafe door, i never left the station to reenter. I'm not trying to use the facilities at redruth as an excuse just to explain that it is often the case you are unable to buy tckets before...
no she was definitely being rude, she kept repeating it over and over even though i said i understand that, asked her what she was doing with my details and what the procedure was and she just kept saying the same thing over and over. she never mentioned anything about unpaid fare notice or...
i think i was there about 7mins before departure but the queue was at least 10 people deep with someone at the front looking to change ticket dates, if it was a case of the redruth-truro journey i think id have an argument but i suppose thats irrelevant as i had the opportunity to purchase...
also with regards to the letter they sent me, the prosecutions unit said i could not appeal, if i wanted to appeal it would be in court - is that fair?
i only asked about the penalty fare because it wasnt very clear when i looked in to it it wasnt very clear. i dont agree with the fine (though i understand all your oints about the 'rules') its just it is standard practice here to buy on the train as there is often only 1 person at each station...
ok that clears up the 'penalty fare zone'
im in cornwall, we only have 2 stations that have ticket barriers, it is usually the case that you buy tickets on the train. i don't see how it's fair considering i was attempting to pay and a penalty fare is a 5th of the price of this fine! how do...
