Update - Got a letter through from FCC asking to get into contact with them.
After leaving messages and emailing them I've just been left an answer phone message and email saying I'm to pay a £63.20 fine. 13.20 for ticket plus 50 for cost to the office.
Pretty happy with that, compared to...
Fines, Penalty Fares/Notices - whatever you want to call it, its a financial punishment because you cocked up. Its just so frustrating when I know people who regularly bunk a few stops and only get a £20 penalty fare if they get caught and I make one silly mistake and boom potentially £350 quid...
But what about the standard £20 fines the inspectors give out basically everywhere else? Im guessing FCC is different...
Anyways, looks like I should be getting an apology letter written sharpish then. Is there anything I should or shouldnt say to improve my chances?

Yeah pretty much have no defence if it goes to court, just shocked that it got that far, when a simple fine would have been enough! (i guess not if they can get £100 out of me!)

Yeah i'm pretty sure it ran out end of september, so it was about a month out of date (got caught on the 1st of november), I only take the train once or twice a month so hadnt really had the need to check...lesson learned!
