Failed onboard scan on advance ticket "& connections"

I absolutely agree. My assumption was in the OPs case that the guard had asked to see a booked itinerary, rather than was questioning it. The 'simple explanation' I had in mind was 'I'm travelling on my booked itinerary'.

Failed onboard scan on advance ticket "& connections"

It is not possible to programme a scanner with every valid ticket combination so a check will involve some assumptions, some of which may result in the guard needing to look at the ticket. Nobody will be "tricked/coerced" by a guard. A simple explanation on the part of the customer should suffice.

Penalty fare for daughter using complimentary delay repay ticket

I use those that are issued with my full name first, followed by any with just my surname plus initial, and only then any issued blank.

    Investigation

It would be highly unusual for someone to be willing to pay a fine (as mentioned up thread, only a court will be issuing a fine) if they had not been evading a fare. If you are honest in this thread then people will offer good advice.

Which UK bus operators, in your own opinion, have the most poorly presented fleet of vehicles?

Purely with regards inside grime, Connexions Buses (Harrogate) is a contender here, with what looked like years of dirt accumulation plus other detritus in a Scania 'decker I recently travelled on. To be fair, there was a notice tacked up advertising for a cleaner.

West Yorkshire DaySaver Bus and Train (Off-Peak)

For completeness, I can confirm that Adult, Family (up to 2 adults & 3 concessions) and Group (up to 5 adults) versions of the West Yorkshire Daysaver Bus & Train Off Peak can be purchased (in scratch off format) from Metro bus station travel centres. Five adults can use a family ticket as long...

    West Yorkshire Daysave

The hypothetical late-running 18:27 discussed fulfils both of these criteria, so I would be happy to travel on it. The train is timed to depart after 09:30, and the actual time is after 18:29.

    West Yorkshire Daysave

On this point, my assumption was that you *could* catch a late running 18:27 (after 18:30). Can anyone point to T&Cs which would prevent?

Chorley to Harrogate - can I get any train once at Leeds?

You can get any train from Leeds. You can also get any train from Chorley. There is no need to follow an itinerary.

I'm not sure why you would think that.

Days Out Guide offer - ticket validity query

The extract quoted above refers to a return journey, not a return ticket. So I would have said that what the OP wishes to do is valid. It would not be fair or logical, for example, to offer London visitors from WCML stations (period returns available) 2-4-1 offers for the duration of their...

    Promise to Pay

A Promise to Pay is for the specific scenario where a customer wishes to purchase using cash but only a non-cash TVM is available at origin. In the case of a non-working TVM you can pay by card on board. I am not familiar with Newcastle Central, and in particular whether there is an excess...

    Alleged short faring - Thameslink

I am not clear whether a letter will refer to potential short-faring, or for buying after the commencement of a journey where there was opportunity to do so beforehand. The OP seems not to realise that the latter is an offence?

Stopped by BTP at Stratford for Not Having a Ticket – Need Advice
