I agree, that was amazing and original!

    Northumberland Line reopening: progress updates

Isn't it more the cheap and frequent service to be celebrated at Ashington rather than the station? You couldn't expect canopies, flower baskets and buffets everywhere but the station doesn't even have a ticket office, toilets or waiting room! Its a platform with a bus shelter

    Lumo Stirling timetable

I am correct in thinking this service will call at Whifflet instead of Coatbridge, and Greenfaulds instead of Cumbernauld?

    December 2025 East Coast Timetable

I'm not sure, it does seem incredibly bad that there is only 1 tpd Newark to Retford, at least Morpeth has the Lumo and TPE services and Durham still has the XC services. Maybe the Branch Line Society should be notified of a new Parliamentary service station?!

How many preserved railways still issue Edmondson tickets?

I wish railways would issue NCR 51 style tickets, the tall red ones issued by BR ticket offices in the early 1980's

    December 2025 East Coast Timetable

I think Morpeth loses the very 2 calls that I keep meaning to use for a novelty trip out on 9-coach Azumas from Newcastle ie 1240 from Newcastle, returning from Morpeth at 1515. In the 1980's as a teenager I was mystified by the massive platforms at Morpeth which sat unused as there was only a...

    Speeds on heritage railways.

ride on miniature railways instead, it always feels faster and you get more / more interesting trackwork in the same area

Tyne & Wear Metro Fleet Replacement: Awarded to Stadler

I have a friend visiting from East Anglia next weekend and we want to sample a new metrocar on Saturday. What diagram(s) will be running and where can I look up the times? I think somebody said T121 but where can I find T121's times etc? thanks

Could LNER divert via the new Northumberland Line?

I agree, Pegswood (for example) appears to be one of the main stations on this 'Northumberland Coast Loop', yet trains going South from it miss the local focal point of Morpeth by less than a mile, then miss Ashington, then skirting round the edge of Blyth from which a bus would be needed to...

Could LNER divert via the new Northumberland Line?

By the way the other railway marked in green on your map (going North West from Ashington towards the ECML) has been long disused, has track missing in parts and the rest has trees growing in the middle. It was a private light railway owned by UK Coal serving Butterwell colliery, it did lead...

    Bala Lake Railway Extension Approved

Exactly! surely now is the time to get going, with the whole off-season stretching conveniently just ahead, why waste that time to start in March when the extra load isn't there yet.

    Platform 7 - T.V. drama.

I agree it was rubbish, I only made an effort to watch it because of the railway content but it was just crass
