Thank you for that. Sadly the passenger did not even present a card to be scanned, just said “I don’t have a ticket”. Suspect he’s doing this regularly :-(

Relax. They don’t really want to prosecute you. But you do need to pay back the fares you avoided. Start saving!!

Sorry to be blunt but TFL will prosecute you and you will be convicted. They want to demonstrate to you and other people that this kind of Oyster card misuse is unacceptable.

You might want to check your contract of employment. Mine says that I have to declare any convictions to HR within 7 days of the conviction

I’ve learned a lot about fare evasion from this series. Pushing through the barriers, using a dead bank card to either reach around or use an exit gate to get out. RPI’s have no power of detention and there are rarely police backing them up. I‘m not sure the series is having it’s desired outcome!
