Our new ticketing site is now live! Using either this or the original site (both powered by TrainSplit) helps support the running of the forum with every ticket purchase! Find out more and ask any questions/give us feedback in this thread!
It is surely irrelevant - as the ticket is valid for as many journeys you care to (and are able ) to make within its validity and - in theory - you could claim DR on all of them (though would be limited to the pro rata fare paid in respect of that day).
The network falling apart doesn’t necessarily mean infrastructure. It can also mean authorities slashing the train-kms they’re prepared /able to pay for once /if federal funding is withdrawn.
They almost certainly do / would but are not necessarily willing to cough up the funds needed to sustain it and maintain investment at a level sufficient to keep the network from falling apart.
As are Deutschland and Hungary tickets and no doubt Austria’s Klimaticket as well. It’s up to their electorates to decide on their futures but I can’t see them being sustainable long term.
I wonder if any of the monthlies have considered subscription by Direct Debit on a “running basis” - ie you pay up front for (say) 3 issues and the on a monthly basis. The consumer doesn’t have to stump up a huge sum for a year / 6 months and the publisher knows that they get 2 months’ warning...
Would be fascinating to know whether you caught the re-signing of Helensburgh Upper just at the right moment or whether the ridiculous juxtaposition lasted months or years because the instructions didn’t say anything about taking the old signs down!

Yes sorry - my mental compass was defeating my attempts to describe it more precisely. As said in the quote - the new access to the subway at the platform 13/15 end.
That would temporarily fix the problem until people got used to it, then it would all start over again. Some people are just “last minute” people and we ll sometimes miscalculate. Others are late by force of circumstance, but whenever you set the cut off, there will always be those who are just...
In this case, what they are wanting to do is reduce car traffic in the area around Cambridge South (by enabling inbound travel by rail). The last thing they want to do is to encourage people to drive to the new station.
People south of Cambridge who drive to a station be exactly the same options as they did before. What this has done is provide a(mother) way of accessing (particularly) the area without a car.
Indeed, was not the principal purpose of the station to be a "destination" (not in itself, naturally!) rather than an origin. and to help cut local car use?
