I would extend the great northern ecml peak services from Peterborough to start and end at Newark (stopping at Grantham too). This will help during peak hours to provide extra capacity for LNER services from further afield if more commuters from Newark and Grantham use the Great Northern...
Ought to be a flyover and crossing the Thames at Woolwich with the dual carriageway extending to the A2 at Falconwood - that would solve a lot of the traffic issues at Blackwall.
A few weeks back I mentioned this as a credible idea, detailed above. While the leg to Northampton is difficult due to the terrain being rather wet, the leg from Corby to Peterboro' is easily doable.
Stations north of Bedford would be better situated via Corby to Peterborough on a single train...
I suppose you could instead use 365 or a 387 (used for the Peterborough fast peaks) to do a shuttle to Kings Cross, in the times a class 700 is extended to Leeds or York?
I would not class it as devaluing the product, in fact its opening opportunities for cross London/Brighton/Gatwick travel...
Maybe a few thameslink services a day could be extended to Leeds or York from Brighton/Horsham? It could provide a low-cost train filler at off-peak times for leisure and cost conscious travellers?
Reasonably priced it could help travel from let's say Huntington to Leeds or Doncaster to...
Quick question? Why can't the Bedford to Cambridge have space for 125mph/110mph running, in some of the straighter sections, east of Renhold. As a new build it might be worth building to as high a spec as possible.
In terms of fleet, I would say class 170s are a best bet - though I would like...
Even with or without any split at Corby - this is a crucial point in that it does not need any new paths (it could take over the existing Northern Notts to Leeds path) and in fact capacity is probably already available for a 1tph service at the moment.
Any service could easily be done by the...
With the continuing disruption seeming to last into next week. Why can we send the HST from EMR into an Exeter to Reading shuttle. How long would any required training take? Of course you’d need extra staff for the doors and windows but this is a crisis so we need these back in service.
Yes my thinking was till HS2 is in place connectivity from MML south of Leicester could do with some improvements with a new service considering the spare capacity that the quad tracking from Bedford to Kettering brings.

Fair enough, though the connectivity argument would still be...
Considering the new upcoming EMR timetable will see the loss of direct travel from MML station south of Kettering to the North, would it be worthwhile to introduce a 1tph service from Bedford to Leeds via Nottingham. This would bring back direct connectivity for Bedford and Wellingborough to...
Really enjoyed EMR/EMT HST first class section and will miss that a lot. The seats, ride and snacks were brilliant.
EMT Merdian's and LNER MK4 first class was also good though the new 800s was a major disappointment (I would not spend too much extra for FC on those!!).
