In 2014, Virgin Trains trialled at-seat pizza delivery - you ordered from the shop, and they cooked them in the first class galley.
(attached images show a flyer for the service, offering 9" haggis, cheese & tomato, or ham & mushroom pizzas for £5; and a ham & mushroom pizza in a cardboard...
it was spotless, though I think I was the first one in this morning (and of course left it in a good state for the next person!)
There's no chair or bench, which I appreciate some may find useful for getting dressed.
I've just arrived in Euston from the lowland sleeper (34 mins early), and thought it was worth posting the following in case it was useful to others, as I couldn't find any up-to-date information when I tried searching for it beforehand:
the Caledonian Sleeper website goes into quite a bit of...
having had a look at SilverRail's website, their case studies include EMR's 'smart kiosks' - which appears to be the ones that print eTickets on plain paper.
thinking a bit more about this, for me the disappointment isn't that they've given the contract to a company who've failed quite badly at...
there's a 2b.:
the first train (operated by TOC A) is delayed enough to take your connection under the MCT, but you still make the second train (operated by TOC B). The second train is significantly delayed; so you claim delay repay from TOC B. TOC A rejects the claim and passes it back to TOC...
An Avanti revenue protection chappie on the gates at Euston recently tried to stop me from boarding a service to Glasgow (on which I had a Seatfrog upgrade), because it was full - and tried directing me to the service going via Birmingham. I wasn't quite quick enough to point out to him that the...
I've been doing Glasgow - London every few weeks, and it felt like things were starting to improve at the beginning on the year. My last few trips have had plenty to go wrong - not all of it Avanti's fault, in fairness - but it's rare to have a trip that doesn't involve some Delay Repay. It's...

Emirates provided them with this statement:
I've not had a try to see if it's actually usable yet!
worth mentioning that it can cap in ways you might not expect - last week I went to Paisley on three days, then made some shorter trips into town on some other days, and I ended up being charged for a 7 day season from my local station to Paisley (even including some journeys which I wouldn't...
I'm pretty sure it did when I was there a few weeks ago.
It turns out that full NR ticket machines were installed in former Silverlink stations which were transferred to LUL control. This 2017 post from diamond geezer has some of the backstory:
This was also how I remembered it being announced - but I've just dug out the press release from its opening in 2012, and:
(emphasis mine)
however, the concept of the western hall being used to separate waiting passengers from those arriving has been there right from the start - as seen in...
So here's an interesting one - if you try to book an itinerary involving certain train companies (I've managed to make it appear with Avanti, LNER, TPE, CrossCountry and GWR) it'll show you a seat picker, to allow you to reserve individual seats. However with (reservable) ScotRail trains, you...
no? I was under the impression that most Scottish public transport operators supported ITSO cards issued by other Scottish public transport operators, and the NEC. There used to be a (goverment?) website dedicated to this at smarttravel.scot, but it appears they've given up on the idea and it's...
