Ouigo Classic Paris Nord - Brussels Midi

It's a small thing and I'm very glad it's happening, anyway. Worth remembering the context is that Thalys previously ran the "Izy" service for similar prices which used TGV (and sometimes ex Eurostar) rolling stock on the classic lines but recently cancelled it. That always felt like a...

Ouigo Classic Paris Nord - Brussels Midi

The service was branded EuroCity during the 2024 Paris Olympics

Ouigo Classic Paris Nord - Brussels Midi

I'm really glad this service exists and I'll probably make use of it myself, but the branding is a bit bonkers (as is the whole SNCF branding structure). It's surely just a EuroCity. OuiGo Classic?

    Eurostar disruption 30th November

It may be due to border regulations? Isn't a Eurostar carriage an international border because people have already gone through French passport control?

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway: progress updates

It seems so odd to write 'Arterio' on them so prominently. I can just about accept writing 'Azuma' on a long-distance high-speed flagship, but these are just suburban trains...

Evolyn to investigate cross-Channel rail services (clarified to not include Mobico)

At the risk of going off topic I've always thought it would make a lot of sense for Eurostar to offer Luxembourg as a bookable destination as well, given they already sell an Any Belgian Station ticket to Arlon a few miles away, and the stretch of the journey inside Luxembourg is free.

Evolyn to investigate cross-Channel rail services (clarified to not include Mobico)

I think this approach is sometimes used for through-running Amsterdam services in Brussels as well - I've definitely taken them from the normal high-speed platforms occasionally.

Evolyn to investigate cross-Channel rail services (clarified to not include Mobico)

Germany hasn't blocked international services from the UK. DB abandoned its own plans for direct services for a few reasons. 1) Services to the UK require non-UK stations to wall off a platform for more or less exclusive use for UK trains, because of immigration requirements outside Schengen...

Evolyn to investigate cross-Channel rail services (clarified to not include Mobico)

It's a big hub for international organisations – lots of UN stuff, aid agencies, WHO, WTO, the Red Cross, etc. As well as large employers the nature of the organisations and the people they employ means a very high propensity for international travel.

Interesting – thank you, this makes a lot of sense

Docklands Light Railway - Thamesmead Extension (Discussion)

I think people saying 'it's only one stop in Thamesmead how could it justify a tunnel' are missing the point - the number of stops is less important to whether a project goes ahead than what they achieve. The GLA reckons the Thamesmead opportunity area as could deliver 8,000 new homes as it...

ECML - HS1 link and Stratford International

Yes, I'm not saying it was - just that it is odd that LCR was apparently telling people it was when the track layout seems to have been incompatible with that role.
