Which is the way it should be. The one or two people in Control cannot possibly manage everything, and there needs to be delegation at a local level during times of major disruption
It's one thing when alterations are known about in advance, but on the day, live alterations, then that's a different matter. Even those bus companies with apps struggle to provide information, let alone alternative transport
This has worked in my favour. TfL has merged two separate journeys before, when it was actually two physical separate journeys. So I paid only half the price.
The whole system can be a bit messy, and the tenancy for National Rail to have mass disruption will only cause big problems, unless, once...
If people are going to have to chase TfL after they've suffered disruption for a refund, then surely it's going to undermine the whole system, and people will just use other forms of tickets?
And the whole thing will be another waste of money
I can see where people have two maximum fares incorrectly charged during disruption, will just ring their bank up and do chargebacks.
It's easy enough to get new cards with the same bank account if TfL start blacklisting cards under these circumstances
Don't forget you'll also need a mobile when dealing with faults and failures. There's also the times when your unit is auxed off do to an emergency isolation, and the signaller will need to ring your mobile to tell you when you can switch your train back on
