Ah right, I never noticed that. Where i live it is mainly 450s which i have seen 4 car formations on, althought this could be down to a lot of stock being out of action at the mo.

SWT have a lot of stock. I would quote you figures off wikipedia but they are most probably inaccurate and i would get told off :) The spare stock at Clapham probably sits there during the day and is used at peak time, especially as on some routes SWT seem to run 4 car trains during the day...

If you are going on a weekday i would say the bit from Clapham Junction to Vauxhall will also be very crowded but it only takes 4/5 minutes.

The Virgin logo was painted over, albeit not very well, on the rear coach. Couldn't see the rest.

I think one issue which seems to be fairly common amongst this is communication. The passengers need to know why the TOC is doing this and what the benefit is, otherwise it seems the TOC is being underhanded and doing it for financial benefit. This is certianly the way i felt with the SWT...

Saw Alec Stewart on an Swt 455 going to Dorking from Vauxhall last year.

The SWT ones seem to be generally ok, however there is one at Woking which has a dodgy confirm button, it has been like it for ages. Not sure whether it is a question of calibration or the actual screen is defective.

Ah ok, thanks for clearing that up. This is off topic now I guess, bu it seems a very expensive fare. Do the southern and swt tickets co-exist because they couldn't or didn't want to, agree on sharing the revenue? It doesn't make it very easy for customers who don't know or aren't...

I've often had to sit on a 455 from Boxhill & Westhumble to Waterloo with no WC, then queue up to exchange my permit to travel for a ticket whilst being treated as a fare evader, and then finally made it through to the 'facilities'!
