I have just done exactly that, I was avionics tech, left last year and got a job on the engineering side, then I decided to go for driver and got that, starting in 2 weeks time! Pm me if you like... I take it your pvr coincided with the new pay model they just released? ;)

If you are willing to move location to get a job then move to central London like I did. Then you have about 10 local tocs all of whom keep losing people to the countryside.

I passed the first assessment day and received invitation to the second assessment day next week.

But if you passed them then surely you can progress in the application with the second company without having to sit them?

It won't count against you if it is also with them!

A depot driver with c2c will go on to become a mainline driver as a natural progression within the company, subject to performance and availability. The average time to do this is probably about 18 months. c2c don't take trainee drivers from anywhere else.

I got the same email too, but I put it down to either being slightly too honest in what I would do in some of the situations as I tried to make a compromise most of the time. I'm fairly sure that if they used ethnicity to filter out applicants that would be discrimination and therefore illegal.

C2c don't take mainline drivers off the street, they recruit exclusively from their own depot drivers.

Some are quite happy to stay as depot drivers for years, others go straight on to mainline drivers after only a few months. It depends on the individual and also the supply and demand of depot and mainline positions at the time. A few years ago the salary for a depot driver was around 30-32k...
