To all prosprctive new starters..
Im assuming the vast majority of you, the salary is better then whatever you are currently doing...
Get in where u can, learn the ropes and worry about all the rest later
Good luck to all
The comment made is an appauling one.. this race to the bottom nonsense is embarrassing
However.... its a tremendous career no matter where. So i encourage all trainees to get in where they can get in..
Think about salary and moving later
Good luck to all
I can only speak for where i work. Incidents are up in general. In my specific location that is more down to the sheer volume of the day to day work. Not a new or experienced thing.
This contributing factor would/could be something completely different in diff location/company/depot..
There is no criticism of any individual in 1 word of what i said.
The thread itself i do not agree with. For the new/future starters in particular.
There are far too many reasons why these things are happening industry wide which change depending on where or who you work for.
Its an industry...
I am currenty an active working D.i. at a metro TOC.
I think this site is generally wonderful for information.
But this is a poor thread based mostly on individual opinion.
Im not sure how this helps anyone. All grades
If somebody raised it as conspiracy then fair enough but i did not see it. Just the facts.
I believe and hope after all these disputes are sorted there will be a lot of people moving to different landing spots depending on how they all end.
The person who made the comment RE grants is correct.
More corruption at the top (no shocks) means companies get 22k per trainee doing an apprenteship.
In no way does this enhance the quality of candidate but it dupes stats for the government and saves the TOCS a few quid.
To all the people waiting for assessments.
A lot of of going disputes currently. So there will be plenty of uncertainty. By the end of the year the picture should be a lot brighter. Unlikely there will be a lot happening in the current situations
Good luck to everyone
Some of the comments are unhelpful when not clarified. But the points are valid
Unfortunately the railway itself is gonna be in Limbo for the forseeable future RE paydeals conditions.
The road in the near future is due to be a rocky one.
Could be a tough time for future employees. Keep the...
It was not an individual attack on you sir/madam.
The subject in general that makes me sick. Whether metroline, bus train tube drivers, nurses, fireman or any other blue collar jobs are paid well or badly.. under no circumstances should we be so quick to be at each other
Yet the...
To be honest this whole post is Bulls**t of the highest order.
Common people arguing common people salaries is a disgrace on all levels. Will deducting a train driver salary give nurses and fireman what they deserve??? Nope
Yet when the powers that be are lining there own pockets making the...
Well done to the person who put this together, great work!!
However, id say to the new up and coming future drivers. Absolutely do not worry about this at all. Pass your tests, have great interviews and get in where you can. The key is precious!!! Worry about pros and cons later down the line
Regardless if you agree or disagree with his statement. We all know the current divisive and **cancel culture** world we currently live in.
The risk of making any sort of comment on social media that can be taken in any sort of offensive terms far outweighs the reward.
Never want to see...
