    Use of phones while driving.

I take it you have absolute concrete proof that the driver is talking on a mobile phone?

    Special timetable for Open Golf.

Commuter services as far as Wigan. After that they are extra express services on top of the current two per hour stoppers

Porterbrook Cl.769 'Flex' trains from 319s, initially for Northern

Only going off the notice posted at the depot. I'm sure Network Rail wouldn't put that out on a notice unless its the reason...

Porterbrook Cl.769 'Flex' trains from 319s, initially for Northern

Sat 11/07 any 769s were required to use diesel mode by Network Rail due to local isolations around Salford Central. They didn't want them panning up at either Bolton or Salford Central. 769s tend to be power hungry on the wires, so it was more of a resilience thing for the electric services...

Porterbrook Cl.769 'Flex' trains from 319s, initially for Northern

It went via Ashton Moss North Jct, Denton, Heaton Norris Jct, Stockport (where it reversed), then on to Springs Branch via Piccadilly. There is a route available at Brewery Jct through to Phillips Park Jct and on towards Ashton Moss North Jct/Stalybridge

Porterbrook Cl.769 'Flex' trains from 319s, initially for Northern

Very odd. When route learning Wigan (Vic depot has it as a core route), both stations are covered. I cant honestly think which depot has drivers only signing Wallgate and not Northwestern. I believe 2J65 (which is STP'd this week) is a Wigan or Liverpool driver as the unit is scheduled to go to...

Could the railway do better during Huddersfield blockades ?

It would appear you were very unlucky to have a 2 car service as it looks like it was booked as a 5 car. Virtually every service between Chester/Victoria and Leeds yesterday were 5 cars with one 2 car and a 3 car being the exception on the circuit. On top of that the Wigan to Leeds service made...

Cancellations on Blackpool South line on Sundays

Drivers on the west side have booked Sundays paid as overtime. If a driver wants a Sunday off they have to find someone to cover their boooked shift. The problems aren't caused by drivers. Guards however, their Sundays are entirely voluntary paid at a slightly higher rate than a normal day.

Starting service with the front unit off the platform

P3 can handle 4 car 150 units, but can't handle 4 car 158 units. The original plan had 3 car 195s operating LDS - WGN, but this later changed to 4 car 158s. P1 is used frequently for some Liverpool services and is also used as a bypass loop so is actually preferable to keep it clear. The...

Starting service with the front unit off the platform

4 car 158s wont fit into the bay platform at Wigan North Western with the rear door being off the platform, although the train is behind the signal (just). Its one of the reasons that the Leeds - Wigan services changed to Wallgate. There are still some 158 operations that serve North Western...

Storm Claudia - Travel disruption (14/11)

The Hull-Halifax is being cut back to Bradford Interchange to protect the Victoria-Leeds services which will be hit by blanket speed restrictions. As the two hourly via halifax services will be heavily delayed it makes sense to remove less busy services to protect the resilience of the busier...

Alterations to services due to Transpennine Route Upgrade works - 2nd August

It's not a reason to learn the road. Those trains still run, even if a 3 car is shortened to 2 cars. It just doesn't make economical sense.....

Alterations to services due to Transpennine Route Upgrade works - 2nd August

They are running to Brighouse as you suggested already. But beyond Sowerby Bridge there isn't the pathing to run TPE services to Halifax, Bradford on to Leeds. Seems pointless training a shed load of drivers on another diversion route when there is a perfectly good service already. To do so...
