Just checking trains between Sunderland and Newcastle on the 4th March (Derby day) and its metro's only. Appears as if Northern have removed the service in both directions that day, all day. Surely they cant do this? There can be nothing wrong with the line as Grand Centrals are still operating...

I would say its a combination of alcohol and the police being very heavy handed on a ram packed train because their intelligence got it spectacularly wrong lastnight.
