There are reports in various media outlets that CMAL have paid in advance for the three incomplete vessels being built in Turkey after the shipyard fell into financial difficulties.
Things seem to be improving with Hebrides and Isle of Lewis leaving Aberdeen and returning to service. Isle of Lewis is going to provide additional sailings to Stornoway and cover to allow repairs to Loch Seaforth to be carried out. Finlaggan will also return from annual maintenance this weekend.
In a brave move, they’ve sent Glen Sannox up to cover the route. Loch Seaforth is operating again but cannot open the bow doors so capacity is reduced, cars are doing a three point turn on the deck, lorries and coaches are reversing so turnaround is slow.
First time in Glasgow since the fire. Trains on the East Kilbride, Neilston, Newton and Kilmarnock routes are using platforms 1 and 2. I assume Avanti and TPE are using platforms further up.
The biggest loss of life was in a building at Tradeston, not far from Central. There’s an excellent timeline of events on the web, I remember looking it up as my mother’s house in Knightswood took a direct hit from incendiary bombs And Yarrows, where I used to work, was also hit.
