Just think they should be a welcome to the towns they serve than what they are but they all have way too many blind spots which make it pretty unpleasant if you don't know what the area is like. Like picking out Hebburn that long enclosed dark tunnel down towards the South Shields platform is...
Wallsend, Jarrow, Hebburn and Felling are the worst stations imo.
I know others are mentioning other stations but they're mostly suburban stations in housing estates. These 4 are stations serving towns where people might want to actually go to and they're all extremely basic and haven't had a...
See I don't think they should be either or it should be a 2 TPH all stopper along the coast and the fast train via Durham taking the Chester Le Street loads off TransPennine so it can actually be intercity rather than it being full of commuters at peak times.
Personally I'm not a fan of the...
Good post and can't disagree with any of it.
Btw imagine if they wanted a Metrocar they'd just get 4001 or 4020. Can see one of them being happy to give their unit up for Beamish.
Beamish is a museum about North East living upto, currently, the 1950's. It's not a transport museum so something from the 1970/80's doesn't belong there.
No worries, any reason for the 16 (just curious). It's a pretty drab route around some pretty miserable places - no malice to the likes of Stanley and Sacriston.
Could save some time and cut the corner off with the X5/X15 and maybe get an E400MMC if there's one on that day. It's a right old...
Not sure if you have an itinerary for that but if you don't mind paying an extra £1.70 for the Northumberland Line, if you can catch one of the BYD's on the Blyth expresses you could do something like
Newcastle Haymarket - Either X7 to Seaton Delaval Station, X8/X10 to Newsham Station or X9 to...
Stockton has sent it's work to other depots in recent times because it's had driver shortages. Ironically one of them being Redcar.
Dont disagree on the 30 minutes though but I'd imagine it's more principal rather than the actual commute.
You have to remember some of these might be coming from...
Good thing it all worked well at Chester Le Street and Jesmond then.
They're barking up the wrong tree if they believe everyone is going to be driving 30 minutes to Stockton every day, without any moaning. It's not as if there's not lots of alternatives around with HGV/LGV in the local area...
I misread the post, was a long day yesterday. Thought the post was Kings Cross to Euston Square (literally), which just seemed bizarre (as it is really).
Absolutely no arguments about Euston to St Pancras / KGX I'd do the same tbh.
Yeah learnt something today from KGX, generally thought it would've been like down the 10% levels for people going out of it but guess there is more.
Btw the second bit was me having a mishap, thought the poster walked to Euston Square from Kings Cross for the tube, rather than going to actual...
Kings Cross is dominated by the Edinburgh, Leeds, Newcastle, York, Doncaster traffic etc mainly isn't it? Be interesting to see how many people actually do interchange between the two, can't imagine there's too many? Like looking at tickets between stations on the WCML and ECML it's next to...
Connect the override handle to the emergency brake and have the reset in the active driver cab for it or something similar.
Only someone stupid would do that.
It might be just me but I'd rather the police were spending their time trying to catch criminals which actually done something serious like cable theft rather than someone entering a cab.
It's a complete waste of police time.
Just secure the doors properly in the first place, even if it means...
Surely the vast majority of people aren't going to those places though? Euston, in particular, it's heading South to head back North. The Angel area being closer to the Moorgate Line.
I'm not saying no-one does it of course, hence the percentage comment.
