Surely a £1000 penalty would be enough deterant .....and if it isn't the train company will make more money from them, i just wonder if honest people have got a crimnal record for this in the past
Got a fixed penalty today, £80 + £1.60 fare.
For anyone interested, it took them 4 weeks approx to first contact me by letter, I replied immediately, and then it took another 2 weeks to receive this. The main advice I would give is to be apologetic and make sure anything you send is recorded...
received my letter today allowing me to make a written mitigation, I want to send it special delivery tomorrow so that it arrives saturday, is the northern rail debt recovery and prosecution office open on a saturday? will there be someone there to sign for the letter on saturday?

Would it be worth enclosing a cheque for the admin fees and the cost of a full fare ticket from where I got on the train along with my apology and version of events? Or is it safer just to wait for their response after explaining myself and letting them know I'm happy to pay admin fees.

Are the trains we get here, though I can't see Arriva anywhere on them pictures - maybe I just imagined it or forgot it was ages...
The trains say arriva on the side, so assumed that was something to to do with it all, I'll buy them a new train if it means getting out of this mess! I've never so much as farted on a train before!
