    Budget hotels discussion

Wonder if we need to do more to distinguish between genuine failures in company policy ( as we saw with key procedures) and individual errors which are inevitable when you are dealing with so many people each day. That doesn't mean you shouldn't get a refund or other compensation if that...

    Heat Related Disruption - 13 Aug 2026

Isn't it largely because of the logistics - It is much easier to cut out entire diagrams and aim to have a smaller but more reliable operation with people / machinery in the right place rather than try to say "this can go here at 6am but then gets removed at noon before coming back into service...

    Xmas bus timetable

Very frustrating they are giving up from the 22nd. I can kind of understand having reduced services on the working days between Christmas and New Year but to do so in the week before is poor and going to be personally expensive to get to work.

Given a Time Machine, What Would You Tell Your Former Self?

Try harder to do things so that you don't look back and realise you have wasted your life and all of the opportunities you had. Nothing worse than reaching a certain point and knowing you have nothing, and more importantly no-one, to show for it and will never have any of the experiences /...

Incorrectly made to buy a new ticket -- some reassurance required

Hopefully a "water, no biscuits" meeting is being arranged for the staff member. Staff make mistakes and that is fine - What should absolutely not be acceptable in any circumstances is for staff to treat customers with such contempt as displayed here and to go out of their way to make the...

The "And in other news..." thread

And we wonder why the UK doesn't have Growth anymore - The "Online Safety Act" which started to come into force this week has put into place a whole swathe of regulations for any content publishes online including things like community forums. As a result of these regulations quite a lot of...

    Storm Eowyn Disruption - 24/1/25

See several Northern routes have given up on tomorrow already including Leeds - Carlisle. A fun night of trying to work out what, if any, options I have to get North tomorrow...Currently thinking that best shot might be to try and get to Preston from Manchester direction but who the heck...

    Storm Eowyn Disruption - 24/1/25

Hasn't taken long to all go wrong on Airedale routes. Looks like wire issues Saltaire - Shipley at guess. Damn - Had been hoping to at least be in a nice warm office rather than being trapped in the cold hell at home....Will be a horrible day.

    Storm Eowyn Disruption - 24/1/25

This is the point right. When you have a "Do Not Travel" instruction it is not remotely fair to turn round to the customer (who has done everything right) and say..."Pay us again....Oh, and at a higher rate as well please" In no other area of consumer law would that be deemed acceptable but...

    Storm Eowyn Disruption - 24/1/25

Met Office have now upgraded to "Red" warnings for all of Northern Ireland (so now all of Island of Ireland under Red) and central belt of Scotland including Glasgow and Edinburgh from 10 - 5 tomorrow. Certainly among the biggest red warnings under this system.

    Storm Eowyn Disruption - 24/1/25

Not really - Have a firm commitment on Sunday / Monday and accommodation - If have to go on Sat can live with that Have an advance ticket - hence why even if you apply for a refund you are then having to rebuy at much higher cost for something where the network has told you to stay at home.

    Storm Eowyn Disruption - 24/1/25

On the reaction - Pretty much to a person the consensus is that this is the biggest storm we have seen in decades so think that caution is justified...at least into Scotland. What is frustrating is not having a full set of information at the time they tell people not to travel - If we take...
