As a Network Rail Signaller in a busy panel I think my pay is justified. We are responsible for 100 miles of tracks and basically maintaining the safety of 1000s of passengers. We don't have bells and alarms to help us decide if we need to slow down or keep going, the driver basically controls...

Have you made yourself known to the local operations manager or any box residents. I was a signaller in Par SB for a while. The railway is all about who you know and not what you know I'm afraid.

Sorry to say but signallers jobs are getting far and few these days. Due to the amount of boxes closing they are just moving signallers into lower grade boxes. I know there has not been a signallers course in the past couple of months and none coming up till after the new year. It may be a wait...

Yes some of our class used to travel in. I think it has to be within a hour of travelling. Classes start 9.00 till 4pm.
