SWR Strike action to affect journey

It has transpired that there will now be ticket acceptance, although GWR seemed to know a lot more about it than SWR, even as recent as yesterday. A series of tweets suggested GWR knew about the acceptance on 1st May. Thanks for everyone’s advice over the last few days.

SWR Strike action to affect journey

The thing is now, it is probably more cost-effective to get a super off-peak return and be done with. The original single fare price that I had purchased in advance was a little under £30, and I was going to purchase the ticket back either the day before travelling or on the day, due to not...

SWR Strike action to affect journey

After following your advice, I received this subsequent response from SW_Help on Twitter… https://x.com/sw_help/status/1786089189378793599?s=61&t=r5Z1kyWpS13Ylni-f4GddQ

SWR Strike action to affect journey

My question, after explaining the journey, was “what are my options? Am I able to travel on GWR?” I did not mention wanting a refund.

SWR Strike action to affect journey

Thank you for your detailed response, @Watershed. I have already contacted SWR via Twitter but am yet to receive a response five hours on. 1714489582 Okay, I resubmitted the tweet and got a swift response from SW_Help, in the negative (pictured below):

SWR Strike action to affect journey

Hi all, I live in Plymouth, and have a hospital appointment in London next Tuesday (7th) and therefore purchased advanced tickets through Trainpal a few weeks ago to get the best deal. The (split) tickets purchased were an off-peak day single to Pinhoe from Plymouth at 10:15 (with Devon &...

Tap and Cap: does it work?

Obviously, ultimately, no-one is forcing you to use Tap and Cap. As mentioned before, my gripe is being overcharged and having to basically not trust the system to work. Rather than that, I’m back to buying weekly tickets for my trips around Plymouth.

Tap and Cap: does it work?

That’s another thing - the “tap off” reader. When it’s not been active on leaving the bus and I’ve alerted the driver to this, I’ve had many indicate to use the main machine to tap off. As far as I can tell from transactions, it hasn’t made a difference. Or does it? 1704475510 A bad advert for...

Tap and Cap: does it work?

Hi all, I’m aware that not all areas use this system, but here on Plymouth Citybus it has been a feature for some time. Neighbourly Go Cornwall seems to encourage its use. However,m I’ve been more reluctant of late to use it for a couple of reasons. The main one is overcharging. I’ve...

Why do “both ways” stops exist?

What frustrates me most with these is the likelihood of the driver going past your stop when you want to get off, where they haven’t realised it’s a “both ways” stop. This issue exists both where I live and where I go to work, and has happened many times.

    National Express Coaches Discussion

Yes, was on a decker from London to Bristol last year that got half an hour out of London and had to turn around, as it was oppressively hot and the aircon was doing nothing.

Lighting quality on trains: are you bothered?

I’m glad to have found this thread, because I now know it isn’t just me! I was travelling back from Truro to Plymouth the other evening on a GWR Castle unit, and genuinely hated the lighting - it was really hurting my eyes. I suffer from uveitis which is an eye condition that is often aggravated...

Onboard bus announcements to be made mandatory

The Plymouth Citybus app has been trialling a system where you can select your end stop and it will notify you as the bus approaches it. Obviously a much more discreet option, and it seems to work whenever I’ve tried it (although on one occasion, it did seem to cut it fine).
