The EMR services that run via the Joint Line to Doncaster from Peterborough are shown on the departure boards as running only to Gainsborough Lea Road. I can only guess this is to avoid having passengers who are heading to Doncaster accidentally boarding these services instead of an LNER/Grand...
This is something Thameslink often do when there is major disruption to their services. They remove the cancelled services from the departure boards, to only show services that are confirmed as running. Granted they do also explain this with an additional message on the departure boards.
Some Poundland branches do still have reasonable offers on their cold drinks. I was able to get Cole Zero 500ml bottles for £1 recently from branches in Great Yarmouth, Skegness and Scarborough (I was tempted to say all branches, but I recall the Coke Zero 500ml bottles being £1.50 at a branch...
While this isn't directly related to alcohol, I remember several years back serving a customer who had childrens' safety scissors as part of their shopping. Despite the fact this is a product intended for children to use, it still required me to do a 'challenge 25' ID check in order to authorise...
I'm spending the week in Norfolk/Suffolk, and I was quite surprised to see that First in Great Yarmouth have got hold of a new fleet of 26-plate Gemini 3 electric buses. I've seen quite a few of these running on the 8 (Caister to JP Hospital) and even took a short ride on one today. I've also...
I experienced a very similar situation in Blackpool last month. When I booked my stay back in April the Premier Inn in the town centre wanted just under £300 for four nights on their cheapest rate (15th to 19th June were the dates I stayed in Blackpool). In comparison the Travelodge near the...
I'd say Arlesey and Sandy have the worst of it in these situations for the GN side. While it isn't much extra, Huntingdon, St Neots and Biggleswade have the additional peak services to/from Kings Cross, while Arlesey and Sandy are fully reliant on the Peterborough - Horsham services. Sometimes...
Seems the bus companies are all 'stepping up their game' for the River Festival this weekend. Along with the enhanced P&R service from Grant Palmer, Stagecoach are running an enhanced 9D service for the weekend, with three extra journeys from Bedford to Stevenage this evening (these run 'empty...
I know I shouldn't really give them credit for this, but LNER did permit passengers to use their services between Stevenage and Kings Cross during the first heat wave back last month (the red warning heat wave). Though as far as I remember they didn't publicise this very much. I only found out...
I used to be quite the fan of the GTA games (particularly Vice City and San Andreas), but I fell out of love with the series around the early part of this decade. While I have enjoyed playing through the storylines of the more recent games, the change in the physics to push for 'realism' has...
The last northbound Lumo service from Kings Cross does appear to run non-stop all the way to Newcastle. Here's an example of it's run this past Thursday on RTT:

So I guess that does still stand as the longest...
I'm guessing they're keeping units running on one pantograph on stopping services, or at least the shorter services that are running. Peterborough to Horsham seems to have run well so far today, with no cancellations and only a few trains encountering any real delay. This despite the fact that...
For all the criticisms I have for the store I work in (Asda), our freezers have held up very well so far during the recent heatwaves. Not a single one has failed yet (they were installed during our store refit back in 2018). In comparison the Morrisons near my home had half of their freezers out...
By s ticket do you mean a ticket loaded onto the Key Smartcard? If so, then it's likely anyone ordering such a ticket will be sent a physical Gold Card in the post. I've been purchasing my annual season ticket for Arlesey to Biggleswade from Thameslink (not Southern, but still part of GTR) for...
