    Recovery and Prosecution Letter

I cant remember sorry. EDIT - not entirely sure what you're asking for but there were no major markings on the envelope, not like debt recovery or anything. Maybe just a return address on the back. 6 months is up from tomorrow so Ill call them on Monday and see what's the crack. --- old post...

    Prosecution? What will happen next

Well that's very misleading, perhaps leaning towards entrapment. Anyhow, Ill post the pic once I have it. Lets not derail the thread any further.

    Prosecution? What will happen next

The sign advised only that should you buy on board that there would be no discount fares, not that you have to buy prior to boarding. Ill see if my mate can take a picture next time he's at the station.

    Prosecution? What will happen next

Slightly off topic (but on topic in a way) people are always going on about how it is an offence to board a train without a valid ticket due to the Byelaws (which has been discussed plenty - some people think it's black and white and some see grey areas) but when I was in Hamilton recently the...

Wrongly accused of overwritten carnet by FCC

Haha, this is a brilliant result. As I said earlier in the thread, it did appear that it may have been altered but it would always be up to FCC to prove that which they obviously couldn't (or didn't want to waste their time doing). Shame on some of the people stating that the OP/his partner was...

    Recovery and Prosecution Letter

So, my last contact regarding this issue was when I called them on 8th April and they advised to hold off on the penalty letter I received and that they would issue a full response to the points I had provided them in my letter to them. They approximated that this may take "2-3 weeks", we are...

    Northern £80 FPN - Blackburn

I hadn't thought about this previously, but Blackburn is a horrible station. People could quite easily get caught out with this.

Caught 'fare dodging' Am I going to be fined or charged?

Be prepared for a long wait. Took me 6 weeks to be issued with my first letter. Since disputing their fee it has now been 2 months since I last heard from them. I was told by them on the phone it'd probably be about 2-3 weeks (for them to respond to my letter).

Caught 'fare dodging' Am I going to be fined or charged?

Manchester Victoria's gating/staffing situation is bizarre. Regardless of what platform you get off on (except for the 2 parallel to the tram lines) all you need to do is walk up the stairs towards McDonalds and then down the main set of stairs from the MEN entrance and you seemingly avoid all...

    Short Changed at Cardiff

But just because a till balanced does not mean your friend wasn't short changed. If a clerk was going to purposefully short change your friend they wouldn't leave the money in the till at the end of the night would they? However I guess there is no proof of what happened to the £2 (short...

Permission to buy on board train

And vice-versa, is a guard meant to guess that a passenger may happen to have a hidden railcard tucked up their sleeve?

Permission to buy on board train

Im not overly happy with a TOC at this point however I dont see anything malicious in this. I think both sides failed to ask sufficient questions. A guard isn't to know that a passenger meant with a rail card and the passenger wasn't to know that a guard is instructed not to sell discounted...

    one stop, no ticket

    Put facilities in place...? :S

    one stop, no ticket

I agree with Squaddie, at least as one potential solution. As for the quoted post above, under what circumstances would it not be "viable" to install a machine? Are you talking about much less used stations when you say rural? They should still exist as without it you're not providing the...

    one stop, no ticket

It was a suggestion/example, I didn't say it was necessarily what they should run with. If the TOCs are the ones losing money maybe they shoukd be coming up with some other reasonable ideas. Paper tickets, the way they are, are clearly not working though. This is shown by the need for this...
