    Caledonian Sleeper to mainland Europe?

So convert some class 374s into sleeper stock? It seems like a lower risk proposition for an initial trial service as Eurostar will be getting rid of them and they have already been tested to travel most of the way up GB to Scotland

Quadruple track for Ireland, Dublin Connolly to Malahide

With these schemes is there even opportunities or potential flows for an expansion of Irish freight?

Proposed new Channel Tunnel services discussion

Existing infrastructure does exist. There are 4 probably usable interfaces between HS1/Channel tunnel and the classic GB network. 1. NLL connection at St Pancras 2. Ripple lane sidings in Barking 3. Ashford international 4. Dollands Moor sidings/the channel tunnel itself

Proposed new Channel Tunnel services discussion

Often to get to an airport by public transport you often have to get to near the city centre to get the bus/train to the airport so it does balance out often. Especially between London and Scotland, the accumulated time and cost of door to door travel makes the train (5-6hrs depending on the...

Proposed new Channel Tunnel services discussion

Besides the point doubly made of "there is no space on the WCML", how plausible/appropriate is such a thing to improve the prospects of such an international service? This is a rail forum after all

Proposed new Channel Tunnel services discussion

I still think that convincing southeastern to run up the WCML to somewhere like Milton Keynes would result in both a seamless and calmer international connection at Stratford, also a cross London commuter route and open up new people to the Kent seaside avoiding a nasty change in London.

    Well that narrows it down

Far North Line in the snow

At some point soon they will stop working and snow will still be around. Given the age of the 37s I think it would be good to start thinking about which newer locomotive could similarly perform such a role.

    Derby trams?

The failure of the UK government and planning system to enable regional mass transit systems to be funded and built in the past should not be used as a crutch to beat any ideas away, particularly in the *speculative* section of a rail forum. Disagreement yes, but dismissal to shut down...

    Derby trams?

What a pessimist. This forum and thread is here to discuss ideas

    Ontario Northlander train resuming service

When else (and how many more) round trips should be run? 1768079424 Also I don't understand the timmins-cochrane rail connection. It seems to be that the same train will reverse onward from timmins to Cochrane but is branded separately?

    Derby trams?

There definitely would be enough traffic for an interurban tram between Nottingham and Derby, which can form the nucleus of a derby tram network. As mentioned before both by traffic of the towns and suburbs between the 2 cities (which all are economically are interlinked) There are 3 intercity...

    Absurd Rail Replacement arrangemts

I have a relative who is a TFL bus driver, they say that often when they are put on RRB services it is with little notice and little directions. So often on the first day many drivers get lost or don't know the optimal route they are going as it is often leaving the territory they normally...

Direct rail connection between Mansfield and Sheffield
