I would have thought it'd be quite cheap to add accelerometers to trains, that reports in real-time, and any excessive regions get reported with GPS coordinates. Do any train types do this already?
With Northern, I have seen multiple times where an advance ticket for a traditional commuter service is cheaper an hour or two before, compared to the night before. (Both advance tickets, just a cheaper tier available in the morning).
It's a bit moot I suppose, but if the infrastructure allowed 444/450 units to run with unrestricted power, could that help deliver meaningful timetable enhancements? It's really striking traveling on a 350 on AC power compared to a 450, the latter feels like snail's pace in comparison. It must...
I had a great guard last week who was doing what I wished all the others would do- they would lift up their PA handset at just the right time to cut off the start of the 61016/fare evasion/body worn camera announcements. He did it after every stop, and wouldn't say anything, just left us in...

I would contest this- buying Northern...
So, this morning I noticed that on a commute into Manchester, the train was much quieter than I've seen it in probably a year.
However, there were no Northern advance tickets available on this service (only a couple more expensive ones on later trains). Normally I can buy them up until...
That's the one! It's a bit weird it seems to have vanished elsewhere- I started to seriously consider that I'd imagined the train!
It's the first time in a long time that I'm claiming from CrossCountry, and my word the system isn't great. Separately, I've claimed for another journey, after them...
