It does seem odd that it derailed on the diamond (as per the BBC aerial photo) but the signalling shows it on the down slow which it never reached. Also the points from the down slow to the sidings in a previous post do appear to be switched to the sidings. This seems to indicate a conflict...

It seems it was initially cancelled due to brake problems and hence possibly flats. Returning northwards to the depot, possibly a false flange has been created due to a wheelset locking. Hence the derailment at a set of points. Luckily it derailed to the right between the slow lines. If it had...

Losing two ETCS equipped 158s, even for the short term, will cause problems for the Cambrian. 150s are not such equipped. If damage is significant, it may not be worth repairing them before the new 197s come into service.

Please, we do not want these cast off 323s in the north-west. We want new air-conditioned trains in 6 or 8 car formations. The 323s are hot in summer and freezing in winter especially when passing Pendolinos or Voyagers at speed causes all the hopper windows to blow open. Although very nippy...

Not if you live in the north and would have had a worse train service to London if HS2 Phase 2 did go ahead. Also there are people in places such as Leek who will now get a train service and a train connection via Stoke to London. Previously this was not on a definite project list. May be an own...
