Trams on the South Fylde Line just makes sense (far more than Fleetwood-Poulton as it could link straight into Blackpool). But considering they can't even double the frequency on that line despite literal decades of shouting I'm not sure this is realistic. Pre-covid there was some decent...
There are clearly major issues still to be solved on the tramway as it is, but this is the first time in a while the actual future isn't certain.
The upgrade and North Station Extension were planned for years, but what's next? Will there even be any extensions in the future? I used to think so...
Then just have every other T2 tram terminate at Pleasure Beach or something to cut one tram. Point is there are ways to do this that doesn't lead to either an abysmal frequency or the current situation of massively inconvenient journey times.

Not to mention the fact I haven't even...
Certainly not true:
15 minute frequency on SG-Fleetwood on 55 ish minute journey time = 110 minutes total
110/15 = 7.3, round up to 8 trams
NS-Fleetwood approx 45 mins (high end) = 90 minutes total
90/15 = 6 Trams
NS-SG approx 20 mins = 40 minutes total
40/15 = 2.7, round up to 3 trams
Total...
I fully agree the tramway is a mess at the moment. BTS have totally fumbled this and this is from someone who liked the T1/T2/T3 routing if it actually had good frequency.
There's a lot that needs sorting but short term do all of this:
* Reduce Fleetwood to Starr Gate journey time back to 58/55...
And a tram won't stop that from happening. Even if the conversion was all the way to Kirkham it doesn't stop people getting to their accommodation. Otherwise the railway could run alongside the tram if only for the first phases. In fact it would probably be easier with the higher frequency, more...
Apologies for the crude phone sketch but think something like this is the only way to make an interchange at Poulton. Single track terminus with ramp/path through to station.
No way. More people travel within the Fylde Coast than out of it which has been proven by data, so having the local connections is a priority. Heavy rail can run alongside maybe but light rail presents much bigger opportunities that can't be missed, and I'm glad it's being looked into. A passing...
Very anti-tram on here! Blame Network Rail for the fact that the tram won't go up to the station, the initial plan was for a new station building with trams right outside. This is the next best option with the terminus via a short underpass.
As for this being a 'short spur not worth the time...
Was more referring to Blackpool Council and Lancashire County Council (since Fylde and Wyre are part of LCC and transport decisions fall on them).
Shame really, if you ask me the SFL will never reach its potential without some form of light rail connection. The stop locations and distribution...
Absolutely. The Fylde Coast is essentially one continuous area and it makes little sense that transport decisions are split between two authorities.
Hence reluctance to push for the tramway link to South Fylde as it requires multiple authorities to work together, which they don't like to do...
