    Manchester Metrolink (Non speculative discussion)

"Etihad" means "unity", which is interesting considering City's rivals are United.

    Best/Worst value Day Rangers

They tend to use paper Travelcards rather than Oyster to avoid any maximum fares for spending too long between swiping in/out.

C.F.Booth in Rotherham goes into administration

Doncaster Rovers ladies team have now moved out. Went to see them a few weeks back and there were a couple of visible train carriages visible in Booth's yard from inside the ground.

    Major Incident at Huntingdon (01/11/2025)

A friend and I was on the incoming Horsham-Peterborough Thameslink service, that arrived into Peterborough just a few minites after the train in question left - it seems we passed it in the Holme/Connington area so it's scary to think that it was all going on when we zoomed past (wasn't looking...

    EMR expanding penalty fares area

Now that Peterborough – Doncaster will become a penalty fare line, and I believe there are signs up at Sleaford to say it is becoming a "penalty fare station"... does that mean all journeys to Sleaford can be penalty-fared? Such as on the Nottingham-Skegness line - or do you have to be...

    Sandhills station capacity enhancement updates

I did the walk from Moorfields to Goodison in the cold of January after just missing a train, and the next couple were cancelled. As it was 7pm, I decided to walk it and made it in as the teams walked out at 7.45pm. Took ages to catch a bus back, though. It's football, not cricket!

Trivia: Cricket Grounds Visible From Trains.

You can see into Bingham, Sleaford and Skegness cricket pitches from the Poacher line, and you can see Trent Bridge's floodlights as you roll into Nottingham. I played cricket as a young 'un on the playing field at King's School, Grantham, with the trains going past on the bank.

Super off peak fare removal on Great Northern

I've just checked the Peterborough fare (as this is one I use) on both BRFares and the GN site... indeed they do advertise the £27.10 Super Off Peak Day Return GN fare as "Off Peak" on the left hand side but when you select it, it does show it as "Super Off-Peak Day Return" on the right.

When will Easter weekend timetables be confirmed?

Of those days, only Thursday 17th wouldn't normally be off peak all day anyway - Friday and Monday are public holidays, Saturday and Sunday are weekends. Or do some Avanti tickets have holiday/weekend restrictions?

First class cheaper than standard oddity

The only time you'd maybe want your employee to travel in standard on a 1st class ticket is if they were in a group, and for some reason they were the only one with a 1st class ticket.
