AI-generated (not entirely realistic) railway images

Funny you should say that. I asked Grok to give one of my Ffestiniog photos an art treatment in the style of Cuneo:

AI-generated (not entirely realistic) railway images

This was only supposed to have been a simple AI photo edit, but Grok went a but OTT. Kind of like it though.

An entirely unintended result. I asked Grok to improve the image quality of a photo of a 158 at Hereford but forgot to tell it to make no other changes. I kind of like it though.

Altnabreac station and the various legal disputes around it

Don't get me wrong, I don't think it is a good idea to use the horn to taunt the residents either. However, given their subsequent repeated trespass activites, it seems sensible to sound the horn now, even if it wasn't at the beginning.

What rolling stock could the initial East West Rail services use instead of Class 196s?

Tables in 350/2s? Only in the ex-first class bit. There weren't even cup holders in standard.

Altnabreac station and the various legal disputes around it

At the end of the day, aside from at whistleboards, it is up to each individual driver to make decisions about sounding the horn based on perceived hazards. Knowing that Altnabreac is the site or repeat trespass incidents, plus attempts to interfere with the running of the railway, it seems...

As long as all subsequent stops have cameras and monitors, they can operate in DOO mode. Otherwise they either have to have a guard or run non-stop from Banbury.

Post your Post Boxes! (Photos and fun facts)

Also worth noting the Machan Engineering maker's plates are not an integral part of the casting, so they often fall off. You can usually see a crusty patch at the base where it used to be though.

GBR uniform - Is this real or a joke?

Naa, it's fake. This is the real one.

Not least because they're too long for the platforms at Winslow and Bletchley HL.

'Helpful' trainline reminder confuses passenger into getting on wrong train

I think a great many of us in the industry have strong negative feelings about Trainline, and not without reason. However it is not going to go away. They've won the battle to become "the" railway ticket site or even "the railway" in the minds of the general public and National Rail has been...
