Bags on seats announcements should be copied from Amtrak

Last year, I got on a packed EMR train at Manchester Piccadilly, heading for Nottingham. A man had all his luggage on the seat next to him, so I asked him to remove it so that I could sit down. He claimed he didn't have to move it as he had bought two tickets for just this eventuality. I...

St Ives line closed. **Now open again**

The BBC published a Network Rail image of the car being removed by a road/rail vehicle that appears to have headed towards St Erth: I wonder where it was offloaded as in the image it seems to rather out of gauge!

    Your favourite stretches of road

The B3306 between St Ives and Lands End is great. Narrow, twisty and you can play bus roulette on the blind corners!

SWR outgoing Metro fleet withdrawals (complete)

One coach of this unit was on a low loader at junction 24 M1 yesterday evening. If it is like all the others that have been seen there it will be heading for scrap.

    DMU livery question.

A simple question to which there may be no definitive answer. In pre BR blues days, why were DMUs painted green like locos and not maroon like hauled coaching stock,?
