Congratulations!
I had my medical on Monday it consisted of:
Eye sight
Colour blind test
Hearing test
Blood pressure
Medical history
Height & weight
Drug and alcohol test (urine)
Took about 20 minutes and I was told there and then that everything was OK, apart from the drug and alcohol...
Sounds interesting.
I'm starting in November as a relief signaller, so I won't have any rostered Sundays wonder how it would work for reliefs?
Congratulations! I've just had my medical completed, now waiting for my course to start in November!
That is pretty much what has happened with me.
I have my medical next Monday in Birmingham I already have a start date of November with a place booked at York signalling school, that is providing my medical is OK!
Thank you, I've not used flash cards before but they sound a great idea and I will definitely try them.
Not sure on which hotel yet. Pleased to have got York, not a bad train journey from my closest station of Oakham.
Do the school give you a rule book that you can highlight relevant parts in or...
Brilliant! Thanks for taking the time to write that, it is very helpful. I'm due to start York signalling school on the 16th November.
Dumb question time, when you say use flash cards are these just small cards with brief notes on them?
Thank you
Excellent, be good to know what start date you get. Not sure if I will have a place reserved on the same course or if I will be on a later one. Unfortunately I'm on 10 weeks notice in my current job!
Hi Tigerned371,
I am also going to be working as Oakham Relief, I'm a couple of weeks behind you as I was a reserve candidate.
I've just had my pre offer and that is all filled in and returned!
There certainly is some lovely locations. Manton Junction is one I've not seen yet so must go and...
Thanks for this, very informative! Something I will try to copy. Fingers crossed I'll be at signaller school before the end of the year.
Talking of notes, do signallers use log books to record information?
Do you use a notebook, whilst working in the box, to make notes to help remember whats...
After my interview for Oakham Relief Signaller I had a letter saying I was basically a reserve candidate, yesterday I had a fantastic surprise in my Email saying a candidate has withdrawn and I have now been offered a position!
I had honestly written off getting a position and was concentrating...
Yes it was very quick!
The LOM who interviewed me did say he had 2 weeks holiday so I guess he wanted it all scored and sent to HR before he went, I was still expecting it to be at least next week before I heard anything though.
Thank you
Hopefully then I have a very slim chance!
I need to get feedback and dust myself down and keep plugging away!
Good luck for your training and future career.
I had my interview Wednesday this week and I've just had an email saying I wasn't successful.
It says' I met the required benchmark but another candidate scored higher than me and they want to keep my application on hold incase the offered position doesn't commence'.
Does this mean I am a kind...
