Not quite sure how you think it has gone backwards. There wasn't 8 platforms either, 2 were disused. It was four tracked between platforms 1 and 4 but 1 was widened in 1991.
I bet people who are frustrated (I commute from the station to work) would be complaining if it was completely closed so...
The 1627 Leeds Halifax service is often a two car train these days. It's ridiculous. If they are wanting extra services like the Sheffield Flyer then they should make sure they have enough stock to alleviate the short formations particularly at peak times.
More reinstating than extending, the roof at that end was removed around 1983. 1 Bay of the Euston roof has been removed at the manchester end of the station.
Disagree, Bradford was the world's capital of the Woollen industry and still is to some degree at least the UK woollen capital. Both cities were equally important for what they specialised in.
