    Hungary passes vs Interrail

The FAQ on the same website also states the following: Daily tickets do not allow you to use local transport except Érd and Csongrád from 1st May, 2024 (although you can use interurban services between stations within any city). Found by selecting Usage, validity and then Where is my Hungary...

    FIP in Spain

The FIP discounted tickets in Spain are usually the same price as those sold to those with coupons, should be about €6,50 for Avant trains. There's no quota for FIP tickets, as long as there are places available FIP tickets are sold.

    Visiting former Yugoslavian Republics

In my experience this is still the case in some countries in the Balkans. I've personally experienced it the most in Montenegro by far, both on the night train Lovcen from Belgrade to Bar as well as the domestic trains people were smoking continuously. Other than that I've also experienced it in...

    Station Ticking.

I use https://viaduct.world to log my train journeys and it provides me with quite a lot of interesting statistics about stations I've visited, stations I've called at, percentage of stations visited etc. and even a map showing all this. And that's in addition to lots of other cool features.

    Catch them before they're gone

This is the first time I'm hearing about diesel loco-hauled services other than Firenze - Borgo. Do you have any more information about diesel loco-hauled trains between Ventimiglia-Cuneo-Torino and on Sardinia? Are these also D445 locos? Would be quite interesting to be travelling through...

    Change to Eurostar timings

Perhaps you could phone Eurostar, explain your situation once more and see if they would be willing to rebook you onto the earlier train? Sometimes it's just a matter of who you talk to at the time and it might be worth a shot.

Introduction of European Entry-Exit Scheme (EES)

Oh, I didn't know seperate non-EU eGates existed in the first place! I do know that some countries allow other passports than just Schengen passports to use eGates, but thought those eGates were all the same. My experience specifically applies to the manned booths.

Introduction of European Entry-Exit Scheme (EES)

Usually people holding EU passports are separated from non-EU and people are often actively directed to the respective lanes. However, the non-EU booths are also able to process EU passports if you do end up in the non-EU lane together. Obviously they won't have to go through the additional EES...

    German trains engineering works October

I'd say Thale is worth a visit too with quite a few things to see such as the DDR Museum and a cable car (and old railway infrastructure with semaphore signals).

    DR1A units around Vilnius.

Based on my own observations during my two trips there this year and last year they work all trains on the line Vilnius - Ignalina - Turmantas and some trains on the line Vilnius - Varėna - Marcinkonys.

PCC-style trams remaining in service in (western) Europe.

As far as I'm aware it's indeed just the 3-section ones in Brussels that remain. There might be some still in Antwerp as spare vehicles and if they're deployed it's most likely on line 7, but it's also very likely that those have been retired by now. They've been gone from Ghent for quite a few...

    London to Göttingen, 30 September

You can enter a via station on bahn.de and specify how long you want the layover time to be. That way you can tweak the results to get something that works for you. How about an overnight stay in Hannover to continue the last bit to Göttingen the next day? You won't have to worry about the 17...
