Future for Gwili Railway after Carmarthen-Aberystwyth line reopening.

Just reopening the line from Carmarthen to Ffairfach would reduce times from Carmarthen to the north.

Future for Gwili Railway after Carmarthen-Aberystwyth line reopening.

The Gwili Railway can be bypassed. There was a line from Carmarthen to Ffairfach this could be diverted to join the line just south of Ffairfach station and head North. At Bulith Road there was a line to Moat Lane junction this would connect to the Cambrian line. Then reinstate the line from...

Should the two track railway north of Preston be fitted with bidirectional signalling?

One solution would be to 4 track the line. But I can't see that happening.

Long term lack of investment in the Marches line

There are 3 more empty lines and the Northern one could take another train.

Long term lack of investment in the Marches line

There is room for an island platform. There is a larger than normal gap between the line at platform 7 and the down through. This could be brought nearer to the platform 7 line and the down up goods line could be the location for an island platform.

No problem. It shows quite a bit of their future plans. Lets hope they all happen. Chester needs to be electrified to Crewe and Acton Grange junction. This would be a start to the electrification of the line to Holyhead.

Lineside vegetation in light of recent heatwaves

They need to have teams round the country clearing the vegetation all year round. When they chop down the buddleia they need to kill the roots.

TfW are going to provide another island platform. Its just when!

Long term lack of investment in the Marches line

OK but I am sure the rail network will be used more. If not it still could be a terminus for trains from Crewe, Leeds and Manchester Piccadilly. At the moment you have to change at Chester to get to most places.

Long term lack of investment in the Marches line

There is an interesting problem that could develop at Wrexham. As the football ground next to the station is building a huge new stand. This could put pressure on the existing station layout. One solution is to reinstate platform 5 and give access onto Crispin Lane. This would give easy access...

Long term lack of investment in the Marches line

Chester to Wrexham general most important for re doubling. Re-instating platform 4 at Wrexham general with points put in so trains from Chester can arrive/depart from. I think there are only 5 colour light signals between Saltney junction and Wrexham general there need to be more so the track...
