EXE files are generally executables containing machine code and can only be run on Windows, including the often encountered installers.
However, openBVE is a .NET application, which is technically not machine code even though it is an EXE file, but something the .NET framework converts at...
Could it be that NUMLOCK is deactivated on your keyboard? Make sure that it's on by pressing the NUM key until the light associated with NUMLOCK is definately on.
Actually, the newest version includes both a BVE 2 and BVE 4 version of the route. If you want the BVE 4 train to get running, here are a few key hints:
0 - Light on/off
7/8 - Insert/remove key
5/6 - Change ATC/TASC
You should activate the train first by inserting the key into the TRTA...
If you think that the resolution changers are pointless (whose names are Resolution Changer for BVE by the way, not HDBVE), then please keep enjoying BVE 2 at the ultimate resolution of 480x240 (!), which, as long as you are blind, might well suit you. Other people will see some sense, I am...
Correct. There is no need for dreadful clones when you can have the original. Why bother with Mackoy-decoys when you can have bug-free and perfect programs by the inventor of train simulators himself? Thank god I can finally throw my waste of time out of the window now that the reincarnation is...
:!: openBVE 0.8 has been released today.
New features include:
Added support for X files (text, binary, compressed text, compressed binary) to the necessary degree
Added support for BVE 4 timetables via route and train
Added support for automatically generated timetables
Introduced new...
There is no installer. I don't know where you've downloaded openBVE then, but probably not at the official site. As there is no installation required, all you need to do after downloading the archive is to extract EVERYTHING into one folder, not just the EXE file. If you try to run the program...
► openBVE 0.7 is available.
This version introduces support for the ATS DLL plugins. As it is impossible to create a binary-compatible host for these plugins, they, depending on how they were written, react differently in openBVE under certain circumstances. Without the source code for them...
I wouldn't be too excited... If you read the announcement, then you'll probably going to learn that the reason for the creation was porting BVE 4 to Vista, done by someone besides Mackoy himself. If you are asking for new features, then I would certainly wait some time. It might not be the best...
 openBVE Version 0.6 is available.
This version introduces the following things:
BVE 4 panels (including day-time/night-time transition) can be displayed are are working for the most part, except for indicators which depend on the ATS DLL plugin, which is not yet available in this...
First of all, if there are route developers here on this forum who use X object files, I beg you to read this article and help me out on the topic if you are interested in making your routes compatibile with openBVE.
Second, to answer adamp's question: openBVE started as a simulator similar...
 Version 0.5.0.0 is available now.
This version introduces a lot of things:
Motor, flange, rub, run and some other sounds
ATS-SN, ATS-P and ATC security systems, including the lamps
EB (or deadman's device)
Fullscreen mode
Support for fog (via Track.Fog command)
Route...
This is an alpha version (currently 0.4 by the way), so there are some restrictions in usability. For a final release, do you really think that editing an external text file is the way it is intended to be? Well, to say the actual words: No. Of course there will be a menu, and yes, you can...
Nice try, but wrong. My main intent was to write a new train simulator that I could expand with new features as mackoy does not seem to develop any more for BVE. Also, open sourcing the game ensures that should I lose interest in the project one day, others can make whatever they want with it...
The new version 1.0.0.1 is available.
This fixes a few problems that were reported.
First of all, when using the custom route and train selection, the train did not load correctly when using a train from one BVE folder (e.g. from BVE 2) and a route from another BVE folder (e.g. from BVE...
