Hello there – bit of a strange question – or perhaps not…
Yesterday I was on the delayed 1W98 1934 from Cardiff to Holyhead (158838). Just outside Woofferton there was a period of very sharp braking and we came to a stand. I must admit, considering the news of the last week I did give the table...
As much as I hate to say it this poster is right.
I’m not a railwayman. I am a rail fan. I work in an engineering based customer service business and I understand the difficulty of new equipment.
It is utterly ridiculous that brand new trains in customer service are this unreliable and have...
My partner is 40 and at a recent visit to Llangollen Railway we sat in a mk1 compartment coach. She recalls traveling in a compartment style coach to a grandparent in Swindon from Wrexham. She doesn’t remember if it was loco hauled or a multiple unit (I mean why would she).
Any ideas on what...
Bulleid’s Leader and CC1 aside is anyone aware of any unusual design of steam loco that didn’t resemble the usual planform - ie Tender > cab > boiler.
Thanks!
Just had my first experience of a TfW 150 with disabled toilet mods. Almost comically large but probably easiest access for wheelchair for any train in their fleet!
And it has plug sockets. This is strange.
Have been on this one - I thought the noise was coming from the lights!
I thought from memory this was the unit damaged last week near Abergavenny so maybe that’s why she was working in multiple after repairs?
Thanks. So if I’m understanding this right:
Damage must have been to the northern end
Headed south and then only had to travel from East Usk to Newport station damaged end forward.
Headed north undamaged end (and cab) first?
I was caught up in the disruption on Friday.
Hoping to get Gerald north but ended up getting on a very crowded 175 to Newport heading for Man Pic. We sat there for half an hour because of a lack of driver/driver hours. Just enough time to check on RTT that Gerald had left just over an hour...
Was meant to get Gerald last night from Newport to arrive Wrexham at about a quarter to eight - just in time for a nice evening.
Ended up waiting over an hour at Newport, Hereford, betwixt Leominster and Ludlow and then half an hour or so at Shrewsbury for the connection to Wrexham. Got home at...
Considering how strongly ATW push the 'there is no additional trains available' and 'all our serviceable units are operational' lines I think all they need at the moment is bodies, so to speak.
Would these be interoperable with existing 14x/15x units or not? (I expect not). And I wonder if it...
I'm doing some research for a pet project of mine and I wondered if anyone here had any pointers.
Say it's 1939 and I've just got the transatlantic liner to Liverpool from NY. I want to get to Cardiff. What is the quickest/easiest way? Is there a website or anything like that that would have...
I would guess that one of the two reasons below, or a combination of, were the reason re operational incident/derailing
1. Staff were repeating what they'd been told
2. Decisions were taken (at a personal level and/or at a mid management level) to say operational incident because derailment...
